Andy Murray leaves adidas for £15m deal with Under Armour

Happy New Year, Andy.

ANDY MURRAY HAS left adidas to sign a multi-million pound partnership with Under Armour.

The four-year deal which begins in January is worth £15 million, according to reports in the UK media.

Murray becomes the first major international athlete to join the US brand which is worn by some of the biggest names in American sport. Three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady, Olympic gold medallist Lindsey Vonn, NBA star Steph Curry, golfer Jordan Spieth and rising tennis star Sloane Stephens are also on the company’s roster.

“Signing Andy is really a special moment for the brand as we continue to elevate and diversify our athlete roster and expand our international presence,” Under Armour’s Ryan Kuehl said.

As well as wearing Under Armour clothing and featuring in marketing campaigns, the 2013 Wimbledon champion will also take part in global training programmes.

“I am very honoured and excited to be joining Team Under Armour and to help them tell their story globally,” he said.

“They are committed to providing innovative apparel, accessories, and footwear, with an unmatched focus on training and performance.”
