ANDY LEE WILL take on Matt Korobov for the vacant WBO middleweight title on 13th December as part of a Las Vegas triple-header.
The bout will be on the under-card of the Tim Bradley-Diego Chaves welterweight clash at the city’s Cosmopolitan hotel while there’s also the light welterweight meeting of Mauricio Herrera and Jose Benavidez Jr.

Lee’s last appearance in the ring was back in July when he struggled badly against John Jackson at Madison Square Garden. But, the 30 year-old conjured the punch of a lifetime in the fifth to send the up-and-comer to the canvas and claim an unlikely win.
It’s five straight victories for Lee since losing badly to Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr in 2012 and he’ll be hoping he can keep that form going and take over from Peter Quillin as WBO middleweight champion in two months time.
Elsewhere in Irish boxing circles, John Joe Nevin made a successful return to the ring in North Carolina last night.
Competing for the first time since having both his legs broken in a vicious assault last April, he easily brushed past Calvin Stifford inside 90 seconds. That made it two wins from two since turning professional with Nevin having claimed a debut victory over Alberto Candelaria on St. Patrick’s Day earlier this year.
