Andy Carroll was off on holidays before Roy Hodgson could put him on standby for Brazil

It beats a Vauxhall garage in Luton, I suppose.

THERE WAS NO room for Big Andy Carroll when Roy Hodgson named his 23-man squad for next month’s World Cup in Brazil.

However, unlike the likes of Ashley Cole, the West Ham striker did not receive a gentle arm-round-the-shoulder chat by telephone last night… because he was already off on his hollibobs.

While Hodgson was calling out the names in a Vauxhall garage in Luton, Carroll’s girlfriend Billi Muckow was posting these pictures from Dubai on Instagram.

Mucklow captioned the picture of herself and Caroll with ‘Nowhere I’d rather be” the Geordie strike replied via his own Instagram, though:

Carroll’s dream is not over yet, of course. He is among seven names on Hodgson’s standby list. So if anything unfortunate should happen Rickie Lambert in the next few weeks Carroll will have a decent base tan to help him survive in South America.
