Barcelona have made a big change after being out-witted by David Moyes

Barca have sacked Director of Football Andoni Zubizarreta.

BARCELONA HAVE ANNOUNCED they’ve terminated the contract of their Director of Football, Andoni Zubizarreta, with immediate effect.

Zubizarreta was involved in Barcelona’s transfer dealings since taking up the role in 2010, and this past summer saw the Catalan club sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

However, Barcelona have also been banned from signing any new players until 2016 after breaching rules regarding the transfer of youth players.

“The FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has decided to terminate as of today the contract of the Club’s Director of Football, Andoni Zubizarreta,” the club said in a statement.

“The President, in the name of the Club, thanks Andoni Zubizarreta for his contribution, dedication and professionalism over the last four years in his role at the head of the Club’s football area.”

While Barcelona topped their Champions League group and are second in La Liga, there have been some signs that the team isn’t as potent as they were under Pep Guardiola.

Carles Puyol has also resigned as the assistant Director of Football.
