Ancelotti poised to become new PSG boss

The French club have been courting their No1 target the past few days and, with a press conference scheduled for this afternoon, a deal looks imminent.

ITALIAN MANAGER CARLO Ancelotti is expected to take the reigns at Paris Saint-Germain later today.

The 52-year-old, who guided AC Milan to two Champions League titles before a stint with Chelsea, visited Paris yesterday and is believed to be close to agreeing a deal to replace Antoine Kombouare, who was sacked last week.

Sitting top of Ligue Un and backed by wealthy Qatari owners, the Parisian club is an attractive project and one which seems too good for Ancelotti to turn down, despite being quoted in recent months saying he would like to stay in the Premier League.

After spending big during the summer, Champions League qualification is the objective this season as they look to challenge the continent’s most powerful clubs.

A big-name manager with sufficient experience in Europe was a priority and Ancelotti fits the bill.

French newspaper Le Parisien reported that he is at the Parc des Princes with the club’s sporting director Leonardo and a press conference has been scheduled for his afternoon, where the announcement will be made if all things go to plan.
