Amateur upstages Messi and friends with spectacular overhead kick

Surely a career highlight for Northwestern Wildcats striker Matt Eliason.

A HOST OF household names turned out for a charity match in Chicago last night but it was a local boy who stole the show.

Matt Eliason, an amateur with the Northwestern Wildcasts who wasn’t deemed good enough for the MLS, took a Thierry Henry chipped pass on the chest before blasting an overhead past the helpless goalkeeper in a 9-6 win for Leo’s lads.

That’s one to tell the grandkids about.
