FERNANDO ALONSO has won the inaugural Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix, finishing about 14 seconds ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton in second with his Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa in third. Red Bull’s duo of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber – who had started on the front row of the grid – both failed to finish, with championship leader Webber spinning out after 18 laps, while race leader Vettel’s engine blew with ten laps left. With two races left, Alonso now leads the World Drivers’ Championship by 11 points from Webber, with Hamilton a further ten back.
