Allen drops nine Limerick players from panel

Players that the new manager has released include Stephen Lucey, Donie Ryan and Damien Reale.

NEWLY INSTATED LIMERICK manager John Allen has already made sweeping changes to the panel, dropping nine players.

Allen contacted the players in question after conducting fitness tests and is intent on introducing a new fitness regime for the side.

The players in question are Stephen Lucey, Donie Ryan, Damien Reale, Paudie O’Brien, Eoin Ryan, Brian Murray, Paudie McNamara, Pat Tobin and Ciaran O’Rourke.

The manager is believed to be focusing on building a side for the future, and is set to include a number of the players who won the U21 Munster title for Limerick last year in his team.

Allen was only ratified last week, replacing Donal O’Grady in the job.

Limerick reached the All-Ireland quarter-finals this year, before losing to Dublin by a score of 3-13 to 0-18.
