Blackburn v Arsenal, Saturday 12:45

Alex Song and Gervinho are both back in contention for Arsenal’s clash against Blackburn at Ewood Park, following suspension, as is young defender Carl Jenkinson.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey faces a fitness test on an ankle problem while Tomas Rosicky and Ryo Miyaichi are doubts with knee and calf problems.

Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby are both out in the long term with ankle injuries.

For Blackburn, playmaker Junior Hoilett is fit for the match, having been concussed playing against Fulham last week.

Morten Gamst Pedersen, David Dunn and Ryan Nelsen all face fitness tests.

Aston Villa v Newcastle, Saturday 15:00

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon is expected to be out for a month after suffering a knee injury that will require minor surgery, with Ryan Taylor expected to continue at left-back.

Hatem Ben Arfa is not quite ready to play, despite getting over his ankle injury, while Haris Vuckic (broken hand), Mehdi Abeid and Mike Williamson (broken arm) all remain injured.

Aston Villa will be without Emile Heskey and Jermaine Jenas. Heskey has a pulled hamstring, while loan signing Jenas suffered a thigh injury in training.

Carlos Cuellar is recovering well from a knee problem but lacks match fitness, while Eric Lichaj is expected to be out for three to four months with a hip injury.

Owen Coyle is likely to make wholesale changes to the Bolton team that lost 5-0 to Manchester United last weekend, with David Ngog and Tuncay Sanli both expected to be involved after scoring for the reserves in midweek.

Gretar Steinsson could also be recalled.

Stuart Holden is making good progress from a knee ligament injury but is still a game or two away from a return.

Norwich have goalkeeper John Ruddy back from a single game suspension, while James Vaughan will figure despite being elbowed by West Brom defender Gabriel Tamas last week.

Zak Whitbread (hamstring) and defenders Daniel Ayala and Elliot Ward (knee) remain out.

Royston Drenthe could be pushing for his first Everton start after he made a scoring a appearance for the reserves in midweek, while Denis Stracqualursi could also come into contention.

Phil Neville is fighting to regain his place in the side after being dropped last week, while Tim Cahill is expected to lead the line in the absence of the seldom seen Louis Saha.

Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce is rated at only 50-50, while defenders Steve Gohouri and Antolin Alcaraz remain sidelined.

Shaun Maloney, David Jones and Patrick van Aanholt could make league debuts.

Zoltan Gera’s ankle injury will keep him out of Saturday’s trip to face Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, while Chris Brunt will undergo a late fitness test as he continues his recovery from the knee injury he picked up in training.

Swansea are faced with a defensive crisis, despite the return from injury of captain Garry Monk. Alan Tate and Steven Caulker are injured and deadline-day signings Darnel Situ and Rafik Halliche are still awaiting international clearance.

Wayne Routledge is set to return after missing the defeat to Arsenal, though Kemy Agustien (hamstring) and striker Craig Beattie (ankle) are out.

Wolves striker Steven Fletcher is battling to get over a groin problem and is a doubt to face QPR at Molineux on Saturday.

Irish duo Stephen Hunt and Kevin Foley both missed training with ankle problems but manager Mick McCarthy is confident that both players will be fit.

QPR’s new signings, including Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips, all came through Monday’s clash with Newcastle unscathed, though Kieron Dyer, Jamie Mackie and Rob Hulse are all still out.

Glen Johnson is expected be out for a month with a hamstring injury, though Reds defender Martin Kelly is fit again and ready to step into the England man’s shoes.

Steven Gerrard is back in training but is unlikely to be risked against Spurs, with the Carling Cup clash with Brighton a more likely return date.

Tottenham are expected to revert to their first choice eleven after Harry Redknapp made wholesale changes for the Europa League clash against PAOK.

William Gallas, Aaron Lennon and Rafael van der Vaart could return from injury, while Tom Huddlestone, Steven Pienaar and Ledley King all face fitness tests. Michael Dawson is definitely missing.

Fulham v Man City, Sunday 15:00

James Milner misses the trip to Fulham after a clash of heads in last week’s win over Wigan. The midfielder also missed the Champions League game against Napoli.

Midfielder Nigel de Jong is still up to fortnight away from a return.

Bryan Ruiz is set for a return to the Fulham squad, having been ineligible for the Europa League game against FC Twente.

Aaron Hughes is a doubt with a knee injury, while Dickson Etuhu has a thigh problem.

John O’Shea has returned to training after a calf injury and could play for Sunderland against Stoke at the Stadium of Light.

Connor Wickham could be set for his first start, with Nicklas Bendtner leading the attack.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has concerns over a number of players – Peter Crouch, Matthew Etherington, Rory Delap and Marc Wilson all missed the game against Dynamo Kiev.

Asmir Begovic is expected to replace Thomas Sorensen, while Jonathan Woodgate will be assessed.

Alex Ferguson is expected to name a number of the players he rested for the midweek clash against Benfica, including Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea, against Chelsea.

However, Nemanja Vidic, Tom Cleverley and Rafael all remain missing.

Didier Drogba is still not ready to be risked by Chelsea after his head injury, with Andre Villas-Boas set to choose between Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka.

Ramires will return after missing out against Bayer Leverkusen through suspension, while goalkeeping understudies Hilario and Ross Turnbull are both carrying knocks.
