WILL THIS BE the year where history is made and the five-in-a-row feat is finally achieved in the All-Ireland senior football championship?
Dublin’s pursuit of glory for the fifth successive year will be the dominant theme in the 2019 championship which throws in this weekend with provincial action in Connacht.
Jim Gavin’s side run out for the first time on 25 May against Louth or Wexford in the Leinster championship and they are strong favourites to lift Sam Maguire again come the end of the season.
Can they be stopped? Kerry are the last team other than Dublin to triumph on All-Ireland final day with their 2014 success and they have a new manager in charge this season in Peter Keane.
Mayo are no strangers to All-Ireland final day but after a series of painful defeats, will hope that their recent league success can be a springboard to a successful summer.
Sunday sees Mayo in action in New York while another fancied Connacht outfit are also in action with Galway taking on London in their provincial opener.
And what of last year’s All-Ireland finalists Tyrone, who defeated Dublin in the league this spring and will be hoping to push on in 2019?
We want to know who you think this year’s champions will be? Let us know.

Dublin are the only team that could possibly stop Galway.
@Breandan O HEaghra: stop Galway bore the bejaysus outta us, at least the Dubs are good to watch in full flow. Galway’s defensive system is a joke. Lets go out and not get beaten by 10 points, if we hold teams to 4-5 points, sure that’s grand.
Have a of courage and go man for man, it would serve ye better me thinks.
If the Dubs want it, it’s theirs. The 5 in a row title will give them that bite they’ve lacked over the last few seasons I reckon. The title “History makers” will push them on. They’re by far the best panel on the island, just down to how much they want it ( unfortunately for everyone else)
@David Linehan: I’m curious to know what bite this current 4 in a row team have lacked.
Meath
You couldn’t find 15 players outside of Dublin that will put it up to us. Playing badly we will stroll to 5 in a row.
@Bungee Aky: how would you know? You go to games to send emails and phone doctors
@Roberts Mel: with an expecting wife and two children
Rumour has it. Limerick are playing da hurlers in football championship as they are getting no competition in hurling championship
@nero: wont get much this year either, gone by july…
Any one but dublin
Wicklow
Tyrone are better than Mayo
@John O Reilly: rubbish. Full stop. Tyrone are a defensive team that drag everyone down to there level. As a mayo supporter I would rather Dublin win 5 ina row than Tyrone win the all Ireland. Dirty team. Dirty tactics.
But….. Nop!
A no brainer.
