Kilkenny are 4/5 favourites but who is your money on today?

And the game is under way.

Kilkenny 0-1 Cork 0-0:

2mins: Kilkenny’s full-forward Katie Power opens the scoring despite the close attention of Anna Geary and the favourites have an early lead.

Kilkenny 0-1 Cork 0-0:

3mins: Orla Cotter’s long-range free drops short but Kilkenny do well to clear.

Kilkenny 0-1 Cork 0-1:

5mins: It’s been all Cork since Kilkenny opened the scoring and Julia White finally makes their pressure tell on the scoreboard.

Kilkenny 0-1 Cork 0-1:

7mins: What a save from Aoife Murray in the Cork goal. A brilliant field from Kaite Power for Kilkenny looked to have sent Michelle Quilty through for a certain goal but her effort was stopped by Murray.

Kilkenny 0-2 Cork 0-1:

10mins: Quilty makes up for her earlier miss with a well taken point that just drops over Murray’s crossbar.

Kilkenny 0-2 Cork 0-1:

11mins: Kilkenny hit their third wide of the game as Denise Gaule misses when she really should have put it over. Will they be made to pay though?

Kilkenny 0-3 Cork 0-1:

13mins: Like Quilty, Gaule makes up for her miss with Kilkenny’s third score of the day, their first from a place ball.

Kilkenny 0-3 Cork 0-1:

14mins: Another Cotter free drops short but nobody makes contact in the square and it drifts harmlessly wide.

Kilkenny 0-3 Cork 0-2:

16mins: It’s third time lucky for Cotter as her free brings Cork back to within a point midway through the opening half.

Kilkenny 1-3 Cork 0-2:

- GOAL!

18mins: Kilkenny have the game’s first goal and Michelle Quilty is the first to react after Aoife Murray fails to gather the initial effort and Quilty has the easiest of tasks.

Kilkenny 1-4 Cork 0-2:

20mins: Fabulous point from a narrow angle by Denise Gaule makes it a five point lead for Kilkenny despite Cork dominating possession in the opening third.

Kilkenny 1-4 Cork 0-3:

21mins: Cork have a much needed score through Cotter – after the full-forward was taken off free-taking duties for Rena Buckley, reduces the gap to four.

Kilkenny 1-5 Cork 0-3:

29mins: Denise Gaule has her second free of the game, her third point in total as we approach the break.

Kilkenny 1-6 Cork 0-3:

30+1mins: Katie Power executes a brilliant hook on Cork’s Aoife Murray and Kilkenny win the free when the Cork ‘keeper lunges at Power. Gaule makes no mistake from close range.

Kilkenny 1-6 Cork 0-4:

30+2mins: The score of the game from Cork’s Eimear O’Sullivan from miles out reduces the gap to five deep into injury time.

HALF-TIME

Kilkenny 1-6 Cork 0-4:

Neither side have set the world on fire so far but Kilkenny are good value for their five point lead despite conceding the majority of possession to Cork. Could their 20-year wait for Senior glory be about to end?

Scorers for Kilkenny: Michele Quilty 1-1, Denise Gaule 0-4 (0-2f), Katie Power 0-1.

Scorers for Cork: Orla Cotter 0-2 (0-1f), Julia White and Eimear O’Sullivan 0-1 each.

And the second half is under way. No changes to either side.

Kilkenny 1-7 Cork 0-4

31mins: Shelly Farrell gets her first point of the game as Kilkenny start the second half well.

Kilkenny 1-7 Cork 0-5

31mins: Katriona Mackey gets Cork’s opening score of the second period after good work in the half-forward line set the Douglas player free.

Kilkenny 1-7 Cork 0-6

34mins: Orla Cotter nails a long-range free to make it back-to-back points for the first time in the game for Cork and there’s just four in it now.

Kilkenny 1-7 Cork 0-7

38mins: Cork definitely growing into this game but giving an unbeaten in 2014 Kilkenny side such a head-start means they’ll be chasing the game but, right now, they’re back within three thanks to a great score from Jennifer O’Leary.

Kilkenny 1-7 Cork 0-8

39mins: Briege Corkery has her first point of the game and, all of a sudden, the gap is just two.

Cork 1-8 Kilkenny 1-7

GOAL! -

41mins: What a second half this is from Cork so far. Jennifer O’Leary skips past three players to give Cork their first lead of the game. They’ve outscored Kilkenny by 1-4 to 0-1 in the second half and it’s 10 minutes since the Cats scored.

Cork 1-9 Kilkenny 1-7

44mins: The sea of red keeps coming, Orla Cotter with their latest score.

Sub: 19. Miriam Walsh is on for Kilkenny in place of Aine Connery.

Cork 1-9 Kilkenny 1-8

46mins: Denise Gaule has Kilkenny’s second point of the second half. Will that settle things for the Cats?

Cork 1-9 Kilkenny 1-8

47mins: Back-to-back wides from Kilkenny could prove costly. They’ve now hit six wides to Cork’s one.

Cork 1-9 Kilkenny 1-8

49mins: Brilliant save by Emma Kavanagh from Katriona Mackey and here full-back line help her out to deny Cork even a consolation point.

Cork 1-10 Kilkenny 1-8

50mins: It doesn’t take long for Briege Corkery to make amends with with her second point of the game. Cork’s lead is two.

This picture captures just how intense this game has been. Still too close to call with less than ten minutes remaining:

Cork 1-11 Kilkenny 1-8

53mins: Orla Cotter makes no mistake with a close range free to put three between the sides. Kilkenny need goals now.

Sub: 18. Aoife Neary is on for Shelly Farrell as Kilkenny make a second change.

Cork 1-11 Kilkenny 1-8

56mins: Kilkenny have just four minutes to end 20 years of hurt. Cork look very good though, can they hold on?

Sub: 17. Edwina Keane is Kilkenny’s third change as she replaces Leann Fennelly in midfield.

Cork 1-11 Kilkenny 1-9

58mins: Collette Dormer puts two between them but Kilkenny really need goals.

Cork 1-11 Kilkenny 1-9

58mins: Very strange decision from the referee as he awards a free out when it looked for all intents and purposes a foul on Aoife Neary but he saw it differently.

Cork 1-12 Kilkenny 1-9

60+2mins: Orla Cotter puts three between the teams.

Cork 2-12 Kilkenny 1-9

GOAL -

60+3mins: And that’s all she wrote.

Well beyond the injury time that was due to be played Cork win their first Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Camogie since 2009 with Angela Walsh firing home a goal with the last play of the game.

Cork have ended Kilkenny’s long unbeaten run in 2014 as they fall at the final hurdle.

On the balance of play, the Rebelettes are good value for their win but the decision making of referee John Dolan will raise some eyebrows in the Kilkenny dressing room.

And that’s all from us, thanks as always for joining in.
