ENGLISH SNOOKER PLAYER Ali Carter has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and will undergo immediate treatment.
World Snooker announced the news today and revealed the 33-year-old will have surgery on Tuesday.
Carter – who is a two-time World Championship finalist, losing both to snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan in 2008 and 2012 – has also endured a well-publicised battle with Crohn’s disease.
“I hope to be back in action soon,” said Carter, who is 15th in the world rankings.

World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn expressed his best wishes to Carter on behalf of the sport’s governing body, players and fans and praised his fighting ability.
“Ali has shown in his battle against Crohn’s disease that he is a fighter,” Hearn said. “We hope for a positive outcome and everyone in snooker is 100 per cent behind him. We look forward to seeing him back on the circuit soon.”
