Barcelona's Alex Song is joining West Ham on a season-long loan

Despite apparent interest from bigger clubs, Sam Allardyce got his man.

IN A MOVE that will surprise many, Barcelona midfielder Alex Song will join West Ham on loan for the remainder of the season. There had been rumours that the Cameroonian might join Liverpool but instead he will play his football at Upton Park this season.

Song never broke into the Barca team following his move from Arsenal and leaves the club having made 39 league appearances in two seasons.

Sam Allardyce was able to persuade Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff to move to Bolton, but he probably didn’t need quite as large a sales pitch to get Song to come back to London. Still, with so many high profile clubs apparently interested in Song, it is a nice coup for Big Sam.
