Alex Ferguson is auctioning off his famous €3m wine collection

5,000 bottles will be up for grabs from next month.

FORMER MANCHESTER UNITED manager Alex Ferguson is set sell off his multi-million euro collection of wines, it has been reported today.

The Scot is well-known for his interest in wine, a hobby which he used to take his mind off the pressures of being a Premier League boss.

According to The Guardian, however, Ferguson will auction off 5,000 bottles — which are believed to be worth around €3m — from May in London and Hong Kong through auction house Christie’s.

“It’s the wine of the moment in terms of demand,” said David Elswood. “So hopefully that’s going to draw the attention of not just Alex Ferguson fans but wine fans too.”
