Alex Ferguson was presented with a hairdryer cake by journalists today

The retiring Manchester United boss held his latest Friday morning press conference earlier.

OLD TRAFFORD’S PRESS corp might have allowed themselves a collective sigh of relief this morning; they’ve survived the Alex Ferguson era.

And the daily journalists who cover the Man Utd beat presented the retiring manager with a ‘hairdryer cake’ to mark the end of his amazing time in charge. Bags the electrical cable slice!

During his time at United Ferguson has had a fractious relationship with the press but, in his last pre-match press conference, he insisted that he never held a grudge with anyone regarding stories they had written.

“There have been some times when I have not agreed with what people have written,” he continued. “And when you write positive things I tend to dismiss them, but I have never held a grudge. It is not my style.”
