Jose Aldo: It's disrespectful to talk about Conor McGregor

The featherweight champ faces Mini Mendes in a fortnight. And then what?

CONOR MCGREGOR IS the big noise in the UFC’s featherweight division these days but champion Jose Aldo insists he’s just focused on his next fight.

Aldo faces Chade Mendes in Brazil at UFC 179 in a fortnight with Dana White hinting that the outspoken Dubliner would be next up for the winner.

“I’m really focused on Chad Mendes right now and I do think it’s a little bit disrespectful,” Aldo told FOX Sports of the McGregor chatter. “This fight hasn’t even happened. There’s nothing set yet. I do need to keep my feet on the ground and keep focused on Chad Mendes and not think of anyone else.”

McGregor beat Dustin Poirier — a first-round knockout — on his Las Vegas debut last month. Afterwards when asked in the Octagon what was next he responded: “You know what’s next. That world title is next.

“I’m gonna fly to Brazil if they want. I’ll eliminate Chad ‘Mini’ Mendez and step in and give the fans what they want — Aldo versus McGregor. Or you know we could come back and fill that football stadium [the Aviva]. Come on over, we’ll whup them on home soil or away soil. It’s no problem.”

McGregor has been invited to site cage-side for the upcoming fight in Brazil.

“With fighters that are very outspoken and very loud like that, obviously you’re going to hear about it,” Aldo said of McGregor’s trash talk. “I’m not out online looking for things or researching him in any way, but when people come up to me and say ‘Hey, go beat up this guy’ or whatever … So the news does arrive; I do hear about it.”
