CRYSTAL PALACE MANAGER Alan Pardew has hit out at Ireland and Southampton forward Shane Long, after his side were knocked out of the EFL Cup last night.
Pardew claims the 29-year-old, who was booked for diving against Swansea on Sunday, went down too easily in the box in the first-half to win his side a penalty.
Charlie Austin consequently converted to give the Saints the lead, but the former Southampton manager was angered by what he perceived as a dive from Long.

“Shane Long is quick and has got a bit of history in those situations. He was definitely going over, I know that, but the video I saw was inconclusive,” the former Southampton manager said after the game.
“The players felt it (the penalty) was a bit harsh but it was difficult to see unless you see it clearly on television.”
However, replays show that Palace defender Martin Kelly made connection with the left leg of Long, before touching the ball.
Claude Puel’s side doubled their advantage in the second period thanks to Jake Hesketh’s first goal for the club, and they will now face a last-16 clash against Sunderland next month.
