THERE ARE FEW managers who, trailing 1-0 with less than ten minutes to go, would turn to a 17-year old to rescue the game but we’re betting Frank de Boer was glad that’s exactly what he did today.

As his side trailed Roda in their Eredivisie clash, de Boer gambled on replacing the experienced Christian Poulsen with left-back Jairo Riedewald.

It proved to be a masterstroke as Riedewald equalised in the 88th minute before netting the winner in injury time, ensuring Ajax will go into the Dutch league’s Christmas break as Winter Champions.
