FORMER CORK HURLER Aisake Ó hAilpín – who walked out on the Rebels after his brother Sean Óg was cut from the senior panel – is returning to Aussie Rules football.
The Na Piarsaigh man has penned a two-year contract with Essendon District Football League side Maribyrnong Park Lions, according to the Irish Daily Mail.
Ó hAilpín, of course, spent three years with the Carlton Blues alongside his brother Setanta but was ultimately released in 2008.
He returned to Leeside and earned a starting place in Denis Walsh’s side. He starred in the Rebels’ 10-point defeat of eventual All-Ireland champions Tipperary in the Munster championship opener in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
He re-joined his brother Setanta Down Under however when 2005-winning captain Sean Óg was cut from the squad.
