'The Bash' Daly loses out in three-round TUF quarter-final

The Dubliner was defeated by Californian Jessica Penne on last night’s episode.

AISLING DALY SUFFERED an agonising third-round defeat in the last eight of The Ultimate Fighter to fourth seed Jessica Penne.

The Dubliner opened with an impressive first round in which she landed a flurry of body punches and a powerful hook before flooring Penne as the Californian attempted to clinch.

Round one ended with ‘Ais The Bash’ complaining of contact with her eye and the fifth seed again came out swinging in round two.

Throughout the bout, Penne’s greater reach was an advantage and she effectively picked off counter shots while Daly advance. Towards the end of the round, Penne wrestled Daly to the mat and had over 20 seconds to punch from the dominant position.

With the fight declared even, the pair go out for a third round and that’s where Penne takes control. Another move to clinch from Daly ended with her being put on her back. A tangle ensued as Daly battled to recover, but Penne found her feet once more and was able to look down and pick her punches on the kneeling Dubliner.

Daly continued battling to the end of the bout, but her final takedown would come too late to count for any meaningful gains.

You can watch the repeat of The Ultimate Fighter on BT Sport 2 tonight at 10pm.
