UCD ADDED DERRY City to their list of surprise scalps as they came from behind to take all three points home from the Brandywell tonight.
The Students’ 4-2 win means champions Sligo Rovers move four points clear at the top of the Premier Division despite being held to a scoreless draw by Bray Wanderers.
Elsewhere Dundalk snatched a late 1-0 win against bottom side Shelbourne while Danny Morrissey was Cork City’s hero as they beat Bohemians 2-1 in Dalymount Park.

But the night’s big shock came in the Brandywell where UCD made it three wins from their last four and put the brakes on Derry’s title chase.
After a scoreless first half, Robbie Benson gave the Students the lead on the hour mark but their advantage was quickly erased as Rory Patterson and Barry McNamee hit a quick-fire double in the space of four minutes.
Two late penalty decisions went in UCD’s favour and after Dermot McCaffrey was shown red, David McMillan equalised from the spot. Four minutes later, McMillan held his nerve again before Dean Clarke completed an unlikely win in stoppage time.
That result gave Sligo a chance to stretch their lead at the top of the table but the Bit O’Red again showed the indifferent form which has plagued them of late and left them with just six points from their last five games in the league.
At Oriel Park, Tiernan Mulvenna scored the game’s only goal as Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk heaped more pressure on 10-man Shelbourne and manager Alan Mathews.
Brian Shortall was given his marching orders by referee Alan Kelly in the 78th minute before Mulvenna struck three minutes from time to seal the points.
In Dalymount Park, goals in either half from Denis Behan and Danny Morrissey were enough to see Cork City past Bohemians.
Colin Healy’s own goal on 35 minutes had given Bohs the lead but Behan equalised with a penalty four minutes before the break and Morrissey then bagged the winner on 80 minutes.
