Aguero isn't leaving Man City until they win the Champions League

They’re unlikely to win it this year.

MANCHESTER CITY STRIKER Sergio Aguero insists that he wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium until his side win the Champions League.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men tasted disappointment in the Champions League on Wednesday, slipping to a 2-1 defeat against CSKA Moscow and finishing the match with just nine men after Fernandinho and Yaya Toure saw red.

The result leaves City bottom of Group E and with the daunting task of needing to beat Bayern Munich and Roma in their final two games to have a chance of progression but Aguero is confident that his team can still make the knockout stages.

“Not only will I stay the four years to make it eight here in total,” he told the Daily Mail. ”I’ll stay beyond that — until we win it.

“It’s easy for everyone to suddenly decide it’s the man at the helm who is to blame but I would say, in situations like this, when we haven’t played well as a group, we are all in it together.

“The Champions League group table is not what we would have expected. We are not seeing the real City playing in Europe at the moment but we still have these last two games when we hope the real City will turn up.

“I guess that, if we don’t turn it around, you would consider it to be the worst Champions League campaign the club have had but I have spent a lot of years in football and am aware that these things can happen, you get bad runs, and I am also aware that you work your way out of those bad runs and come out the other side positively.”

City return to action on Saturday against QPR, a fixture that holds fond memories for Aguero after his late goal against the Rs clinched the Premier League title for his team in 2012.

“Whenever you mention the words ‘Queens Park Rangers’ it always comes to mind,” he smiled. “That will remain etched on my memory forever. I’ve watched it back loads and loads of times, as you can imagine.”
