Man United announce permanent departure of Adnan Januzaj

The Belgian winger has completed a move to Real Sociedad.

AFTER SIX YEARS at Manchester United, Adnan Januzaj has left the club on a permanent basis to join Real Sociedad in a deal reported to be worth up to €11 million.

The Belgian winger underwent a medical in Spain earlier today and Man United have this evening confirmed his departure after a total of 63 appearances at Old Trafford.

Januzaj struggled for game time at United since his breakthrough season under David Moyes and had loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland in the last two years.

The 22-year-old had been told by Jose Mourinho that he was surplus to requirements and was left out of United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.

Januzaj has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with Real Sociedad, who finished sixth in La Liga last season and will compete in the Europa League group stages next term.

It’s reported that Sociedad will pay United an initial fee of €8.5 million for Januzaj and that could rise depending on add ons.

After joining the Red Devils from Anderlecht when he was 16, Januzaj broke into the first team at Old Trafford during Moyes’ miserable tenure in 2013 and was rewarded with a five-year contract which was due to expire in 2018.
