'I didn't think I'd get away with a Vegemite sandwich': Scott serves up steak and 'bugs' at Augusta

Not a shrimp or a barbie in sight.

SOME SPORTS USE fireworks, others a starter’s pistol and some just a regular old whistle, but golf likes to signal the start of its big week with the Champion’s Dinner at Augusta National.

The year’s first major, the US Masters will take over your nights this weekend, but before it does, the past winners of the famous green jacket were invited to dine on a menu selected by the reigning champion.

“I didn’t think I could get away with a Vegemite sandwich and a meat pie,” said Adam Scott in this video interview with Shane O’Donoghue before chowing down last night.

However, he did attempt to put an Australian influence on the menu. And while we didn’t see a barbecue anywhere inside the Augusta kitchen, the Wagyu beef steak and ‘bugs’ – apparently the accepted slang name for Bay Lobster in Queensland – sounds alright to us.

For dessert, Scott served up his mum’s Pavlova recipe because he’s a good lad like that.
