LIONS SCRUMHALF MIKE PHILLIPS has been on his best behaviour ever since he pointed to the tryline and swan-dived over it against the Barbarians in Hong Kong.
The moment the game was over, Phillips explained, “When I gave a bit of banter to Roks [Joe Rokocoko] there; he’s my team-mate. It’s just a bit of banter, one-on-one. He’s my team-mate. I’m not being big-headed or anything.”
The diplomacy continued today as the Welshman, who was named alongside Jonny Sexton in the Lions halfback pairing, discussed Will Genia, his opposite number on Saturday.
He said, “James O’Connor and Will Genia are two very attacking threats with a tremendous amount of skill. Our defence will have to be top-notch to try and stop that… The last few times Wales have played them, Genia has created for them and been their catalyst. Things seem to tick off him.”
