12 of the best sporting 'cheats'... not that we condone that sort of stuff

We pay tribute to the sports stars that went against the spirit of the game to get the winning edge.

WHEN LEICESTER TIGERSโ€™ Neil Back reached out from a scrum and nicked the ball off Peter Stringer in the Heineken Cup Final he outraged a province and won the grudging respect of the rugby world.

The English forward went against the spirit of the game but, ultimately, his team won and Back accepted the hugs, congratulations andchampionsโ€™ champagne after the final whistle. Here are 12 other sports stars that have bent the rules to their advantage:

Fabien Barthez calls โ€˜offsideโ€™ (2001)

Good idea, in theory, but, with his side level at 0-0 against West Ham in the FA Cup, probably not the best time to try it.

Banned in the NFL, this adhesive often leads to amazing and science-defying catches in High School and College Football.

Oakland Raiders use casts as clubs (1977)

The NFL team had Plaster of Paris casts placed inside their gear and would routine axe down opponents, including O.J Simpson, with hefty and illegal blows.

Joe Sheridanโ€™s thrown goal causes โ€˜Weeโ€™ riot (2010)

Weโ€™re still not sure how this Joe Sheridan goal was allowed to stand. Some irate Louth fans made a beeline for referee Martin Sludden at full-time.

Iโ€™d love to hear the refโ€™s conversation with Giggs, someone whos been playing football for the vast majority of his near 40 year existence.

โ€œNo Ryan! You have to touch the ball from a corner! You cant dribble it!โ€

    โ€œAh wha?!โ€

As a Barรงa fan I adore Sergio Busquets but he can be embarrassing at times (actually a lot of the time).
Sky Sports describe him as a street fighter type player. Perfect description if they are talking about Sesame Street.

If youโ€™re going to show that Joe Sheridan goal then you should also show Louthโ€™s JP Rooney kicking the ball away from a Meath player who was trying to take a free just a few minutes beforehand, the reason so much injury time was played.
