Drive on: Carlos Tevez staying at Man City, insists Roberto Mancini

But what about you, Bobby?

MANCHESTER CITY MANAGER Roberto Mancini insists striker Carlos Tevezโ€™s future remains at the club after his punishment for driving offences.

The Italian said the punishment โ€“ 250 hours of community service โ€“ will have no effect on his long-term future at Etihad Stadium. Mancini said it was a rare personal incident which does not reflect negatively on the club.

โ€œNo,โ€ Mancini told reporters when asked if it will affect Tevezโ€™s future. โ€œI didnโ€™t speak with him about that but I donโ€™t think that will be a problem. Carlos made a mistake and he has paid for this. Usually, he has good behaviour.โ€

Mancini is also certain the strikerโ€™s actions will not create a poor image for the club, despite Samir Nasri also being banned from driving this week for six months after failing to pay his speeding fines.

โ€œNo, this is their private life,โ€ Mancini replied when asked about a damaged reputation for the club. We can do nothing about this. This can happen sometimes.โ€

The club were given a lift on Thursday after it was confirmed Yaya Toure had signed a new four-year contract. The influential midfielder was set for showdown talks with club officials over a new contract before confirmation of his new deal.

โ€œWeโ€™re very happy heโ€™s prepared to play for us and sign another contract,โ€ Mancini said. โ€œFor me, itโ€™s very important for the club, for the players, for him.

โ€œI am happy because Yaya is one of the best players in the world and weโ€™re happy he plays for us.โ€

City face cross-town rivals United tomorrow night with the title all but decided already.
