South African U19 player fires over incredible 80-metre penalty

Gerrie Labuschagne was on target from way, way downtown.

THE ABOVE PENALTY, by Cheetahs U19 wing Gerrie Labuschagne, has been spreading like wildfire in South African social media circles, and justifiably so.

Labuschagne’s incredible goal kick was fired over at Shimla Park in Bloemfontein, which is at an altitude of roughly 4,600 feet above sea level. Even still, it’s a mightily impressive effort from the youngster.

Discipline will apparently have to be at peak levels against the Cheetahs U19s, who have won one and lost one of their opening two games in South Africa’s U19 competition.

Labuschagne – a former South Africa Schools 7s international and a player who has passed through the Ivestec International Rugby Academy – has scored two conversions in those games, missing one.
