RORY MCILROY FACED the press yesterday evening in Chicago after his second practice round ahead of the weekend’s Ryder Cup action.
And while the word ‘Olympics’ failed to crop up once, the Holywood man was asked about his living arrangements.
The Holywood native last week put his County Down mansion up for sale, for a cool £2million. And it was reported he’s off to live in Florida.
What’s going on, the US host at the Medinah Club press centre asked:
Q. You’re moving to Florida, but you’re selling up your house in Northern Ireland, and obviously you can well afford to have houses on both sides of the AtlanticRORY McILROY: I never said I was moving to Florida.
Q. But you’re selling up in Northern Ireland, though?
RORY McILROY: I am, yeah.
Q. Can you say why you don’t want to keep a base over there?
RORY McILROY: Doesn’t make financial sense. I don’t spend enough time at home to warrant the running costs of a home like that and the practice facility.
There you have it. Even, the world number one thinks the price of peat is gone very dear.
