THERE WERE CONTRASTING fortunes for West Bromโs Irish international duo Dara OโShea and Callum Robinson at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Defender OโShea was forced off the pitch early on in the Premier League clash with Chelsea. Off the back of a collectively disappointing, but individually impressive, international break, OโShea was substituted in the 24th minute.
โOโShea has picked up an injury and is replaced by Ivanoviฤ,โ West Brom tweeted. โGet better soon, Dara.โ
Chelsea legend Branislav Ivanovic came off injured himself in the 37th minute, and was replaced by OโSheaโs Ireland team-mate Callum Robinson.
And in the 63rd minute, Robinson popped up with a glorious goal on the volley to make it 3-1:

He scored another in injury time, with all five of Robinsonโs Premier League goals to date coming against Chelsea.
The game ended 5-2, as Matheus Pereiraโs fine brace sparked West Bromโs stunning rout of 10-man Chelsea.
Thiago Silva was sent off for two yellow cards after just 29 minutes as Thomas Tuchelโs 14-match unbeaten start at the Chelsea helm came to a startling end.
Brazilian forward Pereira took his two goals in first-class fashion before Robinsonโs double and a smart finish from Mbaye Diagne sealed relegation-battling West Bromโs first win in four league games.
Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount hit the net for Chelsea but the Blues tasted defeat for the first time since 19 January.
West Bromโs comprehensive victory proved their first win at Stamford Bridge since 1978.
Tuchel predicted before kick-off that veteran centre-back Silva would not last the course on his first match since 4 February due to a thigh injury.
But the Bluesโ German boss could never have predicted the manner of Silvaโs premature exit, a first red card since 2013.
West Brom manager Sam Allardyce admitted in midweek he was โjealousโ of Tuchelโs array of top talent at Chelsea.
But the Stamford Bridge chief could be forgiven, on the day at least, for envying the Baggiesโ superior finishing power, especially from the hugely-impressive Pereira.
As much as the international break cursed Chelsea, so it blessed the Baggies.
Tuchel had just one full training session with his senior squad to prepare for this Saturday lunchtime kick-off while Allardyce quite clearly capitalised on an extended run without a fixture to drill his West Brom charges.
Silvaโs red card undoubtedly changed the course of this match but West Brom deserve huge plaudits for both their tactical discipline and clinical attacking play.
Chelseaโs slow start was eased by Pulisicโs smart reaction to rush first to the loose ball and tap home after Marcos Alonsoโs free-kick.
Alonsoโs curling effort struck the post but Pulisic stormed in and slotted into the net to put the Blues ahead.
Spain full-back Alonso could so easily have put Chelsea ahead moments earlier when Darnell Furlong headed clear under pressure as he lurked behind him ready to pounce at the far post.
Silvaโs big return was over inside half an hour as he was sent off for a second yellow card.
In a near carbon copy of his first booking, Silva was dismissed when battling to recover from a loose Jorginho pass.
Both times the Brazil veteran had too much to do and wound up sliding in late โ but the second yellow for his challenge on Okay Yokuslu certainly appeared harsh.
Hakim Ziyech was the luckless fall guy for the red card, sacrificed and subbed off to bring defender Andreas Christensen into the action.
Chelsea switched to a 4-4-1 with Reece James on the wing, Pulisic on the left and Timo Werner up front on his own.
While Chelsea were caught up with recalibrating, though, the Baggies busied themselves with turning the tables.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstoneโs raking pass bisected the new-look Blues defence and Pereira raced through, controlled and then lobbed the stranded Edouard Mendy to put the visitors level.

In a flash Pereira was on the scoresheet again, keeping his cool and sorting out his feet in the area before sliding home another smart finish.
The half-time whistle handed Chelsea a chance to draw breath and further tweak their new set-up, with the visitors leading 2-1.
Mason Mount replaced Pulisic at the break, with the dependable academy graduate having only been on the bench after three straight matches with England during a draining international break.
Alonsoโs low effort was deflected onto the post to open the second half after Johnstone had flapped at Jamesโ hoisted cross.
Mateo Kovacic saw a drive deflected over the bar, then Kurt Zouma hooked high and wide from a corner.
Chelseaโs designs on restoring parity evaporated when Furlong capped a fine West Brom move with a dangerous cross which Robinson turned home in style in the 63rd minute.
Five minutes later, Diagne drilled home a fourth as the 10-men hosts started to unravel but then all of a sudden Mount slotted home to make it 4-2.
Werner could โ and should โ have taken on Johnstone and scored but opted instead to play in Mount, who made no mistake.
The last word belong to West Brom, however, with Robinson on target again, lifting over Mendy for his second of the day in stoppage time.
Snowflakes everywhere
@Noel Donohue: that old โsnowflakeโ put down is so pre-covid.. Do try something less wet.
@JG: cu#ts??
@thomas walsh: spoke like a true football thug, didnโt know snooker had such vile fans that could utter that.. wouldnโt happen in America
@Charmaine โ Irish: what the word cults?? Get your mind out of the gutter
Years ago you could show emotions playing snooker. Nowadays they barely crack a smileeven if they win through to the next round. Altogether too stiff upper lip. Ronnie at least still shows a bit of passion for the game.
Ya probably shouldnโt of done it in fairness but if this was literally any other player it wouldnโt be such a big story.
@rory: itโs never any other player though is it?
@rory: itโs always Ronnie thatโs the problem
@Niall Brady: did Ronnie hurt your feelings?
@rory: yes obviously the higher the profile of the player the more the media will focus on the transgression I mean this would be the same for any sport. If Mo Salah did it then it would get more headlines than if a player for Brighton did it? That is how news and media works. You sound a little surprised?

Ah move on lads. A bitta feeding the pigeons in frustration. I hope no one got too offended at a gesture that wasnโt aimed at them!
I think the quote by Alex Higgins was and is very apt today. When Alex received one of his many lengthy snooker bans, he was asked by a reporter if he could survive without snooker and he retorted โcould snooker survive without himโ.
He was a hell raiser, Ronnie is a very mild version of Higgins but snooker needs these type of characters today if the sport if going to try and keep a substantial TV audience.Snooker needs them more than these characters need snooker.
Living legend is Ronnie.
The old shaking the bottle of pop there Ron
@kieran: I think he was just reminding himself to put more chalk on his cue
