Aaron Gillane's incredible flicked goal lights up Division 1 final between Limerick and Waterford

The 23-year-old scored a sublime flick at Croke Park as Limerick secured a first league title in 22 years.

AARON GILLANE WAS the star of the show at Croke Park this afternoon, executing a sublime piece of skill in the Division 1 final against Waterford to help Limerick secure a first league title since 1997.

With the Treaty County just a point ahead, Gillane popped up with a brilliant flick following a long puck from Tom Morrissey, leaving Stephen O’Keeffe stunned as the sliotar flew past the Ballygunner shot-stopper and into the back of the net.

John Kiely’s men went from strength-to-strength after the break, beating the Déise 1-24 to 0-19 to secure another big milestone as they now venture into the Championship seeking to defend their All-Ireland title.
