SOME OF THE world’s top divers are coming to Ireland later this year.
Today, it was announced that the 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving Series will be hosted at Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock on 11 and 12 May.
The global spectacle has taken place in Inis Mór on three occasions, but this will be the first time that it visits the capital — with thousands expected to turn out over the weekend.
Dublin joins El Nido in the Philippines, Polignano a Mare in Italy, the Portuguese island of Sao Miguel, Beirut in Lebanon, Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bilbao as one of seven locations on the 11th edition of the competition.
Male and female divers from 18 countries will jump from heights of 27 metres and clock speeds of more than 85km/h, with seven-time champion Gary Hunt of England undoubtedly one to watch out for.
