Watford 4 Chelsea 1
DAYL JANMAAT, GERARD Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra scored late goals as Watford piled the pressure Antonio Conte with a scintillating 4-1 win at home to 10-man Chelsea on Monday.
Eden Hazard’s fine finish appeared to have saved a point for the Premier League champions, who were again awful after a 3-0 home thumping at the hands of Bournemouth last time out.
However, it only served the sting the Hornets into a late flurry, which handed Javi Gracia a massive win on his home bow as Watford boss.
Tiemoue Bakayoko was booked twice inside five first-half minutes, although the Blues were already in the midst of a sloppy performance, in which they failed to test Watford’s back line sufficiently.
And Watford led before half-time when Troy Deeney slammed home a penalty after Thibaut Courtois felled Deulofeu, although the Watford captain could face trouble after celebrating by brandishing his middle finger.
Hazard’s impact seemed to have salvaged a draw, but with Chelsea with open at the back, Janmaat restored Watford’s lead and Deulofeu, on his home debut, curled home before substitute Pereyra lashed in Watford’s fourth to complete a famous win.
Conte spoke pre-match of desiring a statement of support from the Chelsea board, but after three defeats in four games in all competitions his time at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end, with Tottenham now just a point behind the fourth-placed Blues.

I 4-1 wouldn’t want to be Conte in the morning :/
@Gabe: Conte is a magician!
He made Watford look like Barcelona tonight.
@Gabe: Why not, Chelsea pay him off with around 4 or 5 million, then straight to Italian job, sounds good to me, he always wanted that job.
@running man: he quit that job for Chelsea because he missed club football
On current form, it looks like they have no chance of top 4. Hiddink could be heading back for another stint in charge!
Conte feeing how Jose did when the players turned on him. Poisonous club. Conte will be a happy man when he’s called to the office in the morning.
@Teddyzigzagbigbag:
The Abramovich Factor.
Conte getting sacked in the morning
@Jordo: I’d say he’ll be relieved if he is. He’s too good and too classy of a manager for Chelsea, as was Ancelotti
@Jordo: I remember you saying Bakayoko would be better than Matic! How’s that going?
@Stephen Lyons:
Bakayoko has hit the ground running, into a nightmare! He’s been pretty awful all season but tonight was beyond farcical for him. John Swan after 30 mins but he was having a mare before then too.
@Nollaig Elliot: Chelsea fans chanting that he’s sh*t really shows their class but the lad hasn’t exactly filled Matic’s boots anyway!
If that was wenger there wouldn’t even be a question mark over his job.
@Acedeuce: but it’s not Wenger. Its an article on Chelsea and Conte.
@Joshua Walsh: wenger out
@Acedeuce:
Wenger is unique though. He has made Arsenal the club they are. The last of the great long term managers. It will be a sad day for English/European football when the Prof retires.
@Niccolo Saccho: Herbert Chapman, George Graham, berte mee also helped Arsenal to where they are today. It will the happiest day in some Arsenal’s fans footballing lives when “the Prof” (clown) retires.
@Acedeuce:
Cmon, there was a quantum leap in footballing standards from George Graham to Arsene Wenger. Different philosophy, different club. In many respects Wenger revolutionised English football his influence reached into every club in the premiership.
Anyway, I’ll certainly miss him and believe me Arsenal fans will too whether they publicly admit it or not.
Arrivederci Antonio.
It’s clear Conte is not happy there especially the last few weeks. I’d say he wouldn’t be sorry to get out of there and he will have a nice pay day.
Spurs breathing down Chelsea necks! Only team in top 6 unbeaten in last 6 games and their difficult games now over!
@Adrian Costigan: Chelsea are still ahead and have played their difficult games (Bournemouth and Watford)
I thought the sending off was harsh justice ? But the defending on some of watfords goals was very poor ! The penalty decision was another dive manufactured penalty imo
@Tricksy: ah I dunno it’s a tough one. He was probably not getting to the ball (even if he didn’t go down) due to Courtois’ challenge. I feel like in this case the forward needs to be given the benefit of the doubt.
@Tricksy: whether there’s contact or not it’s a penalty, by putting himself as an obstacle in the path between player and ball he obstructs him
Conte for Arsenal.
Conte to be sacked this week, Hiddink to take charge til end of season then Ancelotti to be the prodigal son and return it the summer
Perfect result fcuk Jon Moss could’ve had a bit of daylight if we beat Spurs
