BOHEMIANS HAVE ANNOUNCED the signing of 21-year-old striker Ryan Swan for the 2018 SSE Airtricity League season.

Swan moves to Dalymount Park having spent the second half of the 2017 campaign in the First Division with Cabinteely. He previously had a brief stint in England with Exeter City, which followed spells with UCD and Bray Wanderers.

โ€œRyanโ€™s served his time in the First Division and has done very well,โ€ said Bohemians manager Keith Long. โ€œItโ€™s a big step-up to the Premier Division but he deserves his chance. Heโ€™s hungry to do well and we believe heโ€™s capable of doing so at this level.

โ€œHeโ€™s a Finglas lad and his dad played for the club. Heโ€™s his own man and a different kind of player but he already has Bohs in his blood. Iโ€™m looking forward to working with him.โ€

Swanโ€™s father Derek, who was also a striker, is regarded as a club legend after spending 10 years of his playing career with the Gypsies during two separate spells in the 1980s and 90s.

The highlight of Ryan Swanโ€™s young career so far was arguably UCDโ€™s Europa League campaign in 2015. He scored all three of their goals over the course of ties against Dudelange of Luxembourg and Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.

The arrival of Swan for the 2018 season boosts Bohsโ€™ attacking options following the recent departure of Izzy Akinade, who has joined newly-promoted Waterford.

Doesnโ€™t show much ambition if heโ€™s joining Bohs. Iโ€™d wait another year and hope to be contact be a team with real ambition like Shamrock Rovers.

@Graham McGuinness: Yea Rovers are on a serious upward curve. With their fully professional team and their academy worth millions they managed to finish a whole 7 points!! ahead of the part-time Bohs last season. Theyโ€™re truly going places!

@Graham McGuinness: if that ambition is to be handing out 52 week contracts for 4th place, then knock yourselves out.
