CORK GOALKEEPER KEN O’Halloran has retired from inter-county football.
The 2010 All-Ireland winner was named as a substitute as the Rebels edged Down to lift the Sam Maguire in 2010, and wore the number one jersey as they won the All-Ireland U21 title in 2007.
O’Halloran — who also played in goals for the Cork minor and U21 hurling sides — was between the posts that day as Cork beat Laois.
The Bishopstown clubman also bows out of the inter-county game with three National Football League titles and a Sigerson Cup medal under his belt, starting for UCC as they won the third level competition in 2011.
“Thanks for all the help and support over the years,” he tweeted this evening, and confirmed the news to The42 shortly after.
“Great days!”

The42 has just published its first book, Behind The Lines, a collection of some of the year’s best sports stories. Pick up your copy in Eason’s, or order it here today (€10):
Dublin were very wasteful with possession today and 1st half sweeper tactics were all wrong. As usual Kilkenny were very physical and took their points. Bit disappointed with Dublin really, thought they would bring a lot more composure to the table today. Kilkenny are back at the top table of hurling that’s for sure, but there is reason to believe they’re not entirely imperious as they once were. Not a classic by any means, but fair play to the Cats they got the job done.
I’ve commented on the wrong match here haha! I hope some of the same analysis applies. Sunday brain freeze – shocking scenes lads.
