DENISE O’SULLIVAN ensured North Carolina Courage reached the championship final of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) after conjuring a crucial strike in the club’s clash with Chicago Red Stars.
The Cork native pounced in the last minute to grab the solitary goal of the game and set up a decider against Portland Thorns in Orlando next Saturday.
O’Sullivan, who was traded from Houston Dash earlier in the season, scored her first in NC colours as she ran onto a corner delivery and struck a right-footed effort to the net via a deflection with only a minute of normal time left.
It proved the difference.
