JOE CANNING, JAMIE Barron and Kevin Moran are the three players in the running to be crowned 2017 Hurler of the Year.
The trio make up the shortlist for the Hurler of the Year award that has been released this morning as part of the 2017 PWC All-Stars.
Inter-county GAA players will now vote on the winners which will be announced at the awards on Friday 3 November in the Dublin Convention Centre.
Canning was part of Galway’s triumphant All-Ireland winning side in a memorable personal season that featured an outstanding closing display in the semi-final win over Tipperary.
Barron and Moran both struck crucial goals throughout a campaign where they excelled as Waterford contested the All-Ireland final.
Galway and Waterford are also represented in the shortlist for the Young Hurler of the Year category with Tribesmen forward Conor Whelan and Deise defender Conor Gleeson both included.
The third youngster nominated is Cork teenager Mark Coleman, who was superb for the Munster champions.
