'My words were not meant to offend' - Danny Rose issues an apology for critcising Tottenham

Earlier this week the defender said he thinks Spurs should not buy players he has to Google.

DANNY ROSE HAS issued an apology for comments surrounding Tottenham’s transfer policy, in which the defender criticised the side for their lack of activity this summer.

“Having had time to consider my actions, I acknowledge now that the timing and manner of what I said was ill-judged,” he said in a a statement released on Friday afternoon.

“My words were not meant to offend and for that that I would like to apologise to the chairman, the manager, my team mates and the fans.

The England international criticised his side’s transfer policy this summer in an interview earlier this week.

Tottenham have not signed any players and let eight depart — four on loan and four sold, including team-mate Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

They are the only Premier League team yet to make a signing this transfer window.

Speaking to The Sun he said: “I am not saying buy ten players, I’d love to see two or three — and not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players.”

“I mean signings like that are what we need — that’s just my opinion.

“There are three weeks to go until the window shuts and you look at Man City and think if the window shut now they would be happy with the business they have done.”

The player wished his team-mates well ahead of their opening Premier League game against Newcastle this weekend, however the player’s own future at the club remains uncertain.

@D H: Liverpool will probably do what they always do, up their game against Utd, maybe even win, celebrate like they’ve won the title, and return to normal service.

It’s a must win for Klopp, a win and he’s pretty safe, a draw and he buys time, a loss and he’s in deep trouble….
