TWO DAYS AFTER continuing his utter dominance of the T13 100m discipline, Ireland’s Jason Smyth has stormed to a sensational fifth World Para-athletics Championships gold medal in London this evening.
The Derry sprinter, who is unbeaten at international level since 2005, never looked like surrendering the title he won in 2013 as he powered clear around the bend to win the T13 200m final in a time of 21.40 seconds.
Running in lane four, Smyth had pulled so far clear of his rivals that he was afforded the luxury of easing up to savour another golden moment at the London Olympic Stadium, five years after claiming double Paralympic gold at the venue.
Johannes Nambala of Namibia was second, with Poland’s Mateusz Michalski taking bronze.
Never in doubt!
