IN THE GRAND scheme of controversial non-penalty calls, and nailbiting series finishes, this is barely a footnote – but as footnotes go, it’s a pretty cool one.
As Romain Poite blew his whistle for half-time in the third and decisive Test between the Lions and the All Blacks, young All Blacks fullback Jordie Barrett had the ball in his hand.
Rather than carry it off down the tunnel with him, or hand it to one of the officials, as you might expect, Barrett jogged a few steps to the 10m line and then smashed a 40m drop goal which drifted just inside the upright.
Never miss an opportunity to get some practice in, eh?
