AC MILAN HAVE captured the signature of Portugal sensation Andre Silva from Porto as the resurgent Serie A giants continue to build for next season.
Silva, often described as the “the new Cristiano Ronaldo”, underwent a medical in Milan today and signed a five-year deal — moving for a figure believed to be around €38 million.
The 21-year-old striker was a reported target for a number of top European clubs.
Silva didn’t feature in the Euro 2016 squad as Portugal went on to win the tournament last summer, but he has struck up a fine partnership with Ronaldo since then — scoring six goals in as many matches during the current World Cup qualifying campaign.
After Milan failed in bids to land Andrea Belotti from Torino and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, Silva has signed for the seven-time European champions.
He told MilanNews: “I am calm. I have a lot of work to do before I can express certain thoughts. No [I have not spoken to Ronaldo about the move]. I want to work hard to get closer to the words he has afforded me.”
When I retire, Portugal will be in good hands because they have already found a great striker: Andre Silva,” Ronaldo has also said of his international team-mate.
He becomes their fourth recruit in as many weeks following the signing of Swiss left-back Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg), Ivorian Franck Kessie (Atalanta) and Argentinian centre-back Mateo Musacchio (Villarreal).
Milan were recently sold to Chinese investors by long-time club owner Silvio Berlusconi in a bid to inject fresh impetus into their attempt to rejoin the elite of European football.

Great bit of business & a relatively cheap price too .
Milan are making a comeback.
I’d be glad to see Milan back competing again. Great club.
8 Million cheaper than Sir Andrew Carroll MBE
The return of Milan into one of Europe’s biggest again coinciding with Liverpools return to the elite is brilliant. Never liked Juve. Always loved Milan. That team of baresi donnadonni van Basten gullet rykard papan Maldini. Unbelievable. Would of loving to seen that Milan team play the Liverpool team Dalglish built in a European final. Only for the ban! What a game that would of been.
Too…..many……terrible……spellings……….can’t compute……..massive headache
@UK’s European #1: not to mention Baggio and the greatest offside poacher the game has seen, Inzaghi.
@Nollaig Elliot: most definitly baggio. A class act. And who can forget inzaghi lol. Some poacher even if the offside master. He wasn’t of side in Athens 2007 the swine. And that trade mark celebration of his. The face as if he won the lotto for a tap in. And of course they had Lentini. Remember they paid a world record fee only for him to buy a Ferrari and crash and never played again. Top club.
@UK’s European #1: Milan sign Ronaldo’s supposed heir and suddenly they are on the brink of resurgence to the top tier of European football, yet you’ll knock United at any chance you get when they have just as much chance of doing the same. Deluded.
@Stephen Lyons: listen i don’t like conversing with you.usually i wouldn’t answer a filth who mocks people’s mothers. Although I’ll make an exception. United are a huge club with huge tradition just like liverpool. All tongue in cheek banter. You don’t have banter because you’re a tool who insults mothers. Now girlygirl here it is. Milan have twice the European cups United have. They have rich history like liverpool in Europe. Now splashing cash under new owners and for lovers of football great to see them make a statement of intent. Sorely missed by REAL football people on the big stage. Just like liverpool. Now i know you’re little pea brain doesn’t register that and you may retort with ANOTHER OF YOU’RE MA Mantras. Well go ahead you TossR as it’s all you can do.
@UK’s European #1: Haha there’s the answer I was looking for! Could have written that word for word myself, you’re quite predictable. Cheers!
@Stephen Lyons: what’s predictable is the size of them other things we last spoke about do you remember. Lol Lol
@UK’s European #1: Haha yet another relevant comment on the subject at hand. Keep them coming, each one gives me that little bit more satisfaction!
@Stephen Lyons: I’ll actually not. Afraid you might insult my mother. YGBNUC
@UK’s European #1: I’d have been removed just like you were if I insulted someone, there’s a reason that I’ve got that little thing saying ’3y’ under my name, because I’ve been commenting here for three years under one persona. Fat chance of us ever seeing that under your name, quality falls away in favour of quantity in both twitter accounts and irrelevant comments in your case. I’m simply enjoying this while waiting for you to disappear like you do again and again only to return under a different name, it’s hilarious!
@Stephen Lyons: they’re not even back in the CL ! Strange move as they are miles behind Juve and co
@powerfix: Yeah surprised
@powerfix: Yeah surprised
@UK’s European #1: “coinciding with liverpoo’s return to the elite”
What elite is that? The not winning a trophy every year elite?
@powerfix: Yeah surprised at the amount of money they’re spending but I guess that’s what it takes these days! Especially with rich Chinese owners. Interested to see how this lad fares out although it’s hard to buy into the hype that comes with these young prodigies anymore as few usually live up to it.
@Stephen Lyons: very true like the lad on the U20 team that’s being referred too by some as the next shearer
@FPL Thommo: And yet still the most succesful team in England EVER.
@Stephen Lyons: suspended and learnt you’re lesson. You were reported and banned as you weren’t seen for weeks. It’s as hilarious as them huge things we spoke of last time. Not Liverpools 5 big shiny European cups or the 3 Uefa cups. You know the other huge things. Anyways girlygirl that’s Liverpool. Footballs elite. Richest history in Europe then any other team from England YGBNUC . WE ARE LIVERPOOL TRA LA LA LA LA LA
@UK’s European #1: no, they’re not. That why you pathetically changed your name from “Britain’s Best”.
Ha ha ha you give me so much enjoyment daily.
Thank you.
@FPL Thommo: any news on Liverpool joining the race to sign Mbappe: All over the papers this morning
@powerfix: That Solanke kid? England winning the U20 World Cup coincides nicely with the hype train surrounding him joining Liverpool although he did get player of the tournament so he’s definitely one to watch. Still relatively unproven though
@powerfix: seen that alright. Can’t see Liverpool paying 100m for a kid, and I can’t see him joining Liverpool either.
@UK’s European #1: The longer your comments the less subject matter they actually contain, it’s baffling. I wasn’t banned, I’ve never said anything here that desered anything like that as I usually comment on the article or reply relevantly to a comment. As for me being missing for weeks I wasn’t exactly aware but thanks for pointing it out, you must look out for me daily. I just don’t spend every day on this like you do. I couldn’t tell you how many days you’ve spent here because I couldn’t care less. Although I do find your comments hilarious when I do come across them, like today.
@FPL Thommo: exactly especially as they wouldn’t pay 4m to sign Ronaldo the year before Utd signed him
@Stephen Lyons: i hit a nerve again. We both know the toot. So I’ll keep it short and sweet. If you weren’t suspended which we know you were you were obviously using another account to troll. So why constantly commenting to me when I’ve clearly stated i don’t like people who attack other people’s mothers. You know it’s right YGBNUC
@FPL Thommo: 5 European cups 3 Uefa cups and 18 times English champions. Dry your eyes girlygirl. England’s European Royals. OUCHHHH
@UK’s European #1: hilarious. Keep feeding me please.
@UK’s European #1: Haha there’s only one troll around here and that’s the troll in sheep’s clothing Marcus a.k.a you.
@Stephen Lyons: i actually have great fun laughing at the bitterness you and your alter ego Thommos Suspended BIG NOSE have for the mighty pool. Let this sink in 5 big ones 3 big ones and 18 league titles. I actually believe you girls are the same. It’s gas liverppol have won as many Uefa cups as United have European cups. Lol Lol
@UK’s European #1: Haha keep it coming
@Stephen Lyons: what the toot. Ok here’s some more United have 20 titles 3 European cups and 1 Uefa cups = 24 major honours. Liverpool have 18 titles 5 European cups and 3 Uefa cups = 26 major honours. Thus making us the most succesful team in English football home and abroad. Now quick switch to your alter ego Thommos Suspended BIG NOSE or who ever else you are.
@UK’s European #1: still living on past hopes and dreams I see lol
@UK’s European #1: Now look back on my comments to you and tell me where I once mentioned Liverpool.
@Stephen Lyons: no but you brought United into it because i admired Milans attempts at becoming a top club again. Your an ass lad.
@Johnny Bravo: painful reading. United 24 major honours. Liverpool 26 major honours. Stings I’d imagine.
@UK’s European #1: Haha goodnight good sir
@UK’s European #1: the FA Cup is not a major honour now no? Hilarious
@Stephen Lyons: night girlygirl YGBNUC
@FPL Thommo: it’s finally hit you now thommo it’s about time Liverpool 26 and the Mancs 24. As i said England’s most succesful team ever home and abroad baby girl !
Football manager has taught me this wonderkid is a great bit of stuff. Good business a.c. milan!
A lot cheaper than Morata as well. Not proven but his threshold would appear higher.
Looks like he’s been great for Porto but it’s hard to read too much into international performances these days. 6 qualifier goals looks great til you realise that includes a hat trick against the Faroes and goals against Latvia and the likes. Not a knock on the lad sure what else can he do, but until they change the structure it’s definitely the era to pad your competitive goals record against the minnows a la Cristiano and our Robbie.
