JASON DOHERTY COMES into the Mayo attack for Sunday’s Connacht semi-final against Galway in the only change from their opening round win over Sligo, with Aidan O’Shea again held in reserve.
Doherty came on in the first half of that quarter-final success in Castlebar and is now named to start at wing-forward instead of the injured Conor O’Shea.
Two-time All-Star O’Shea is again not named in the starting fifteen with Donal Vaughan another established player that will be amongst the substitutes.
It will be a landmark game for corner-forward Andy Moran as he will make his 150th appearance for Mayo after making his senior championship debut in New York in 2004.
There are eight survivors from last year’s Connacht semi-final loss to Galway with David Clarke, Chris Barrett, Ger Cafferkey, Seamus O’Shea, Fergal Boland, Diarmuid O’Connor and Moran all set to start this time.
O’Shea, O’Connor and Moran all came on as substitutes in that 1-12 to 0-12 loss last June.

Looking forward to this game.Hope Galway prevail.
@mark kenny: some mayo fans will hope Galway prevail the back door served us well last year
@Mike Flannery: pretty unconvincing in the back door last year I would say. I was surprised last year when people said Mayo would steamroll Galway. This year the guard will be up so I’d expect Mayo to come out on top.
@Mike Flannery:
To be fair ye got a very handy route through the back door incl Fermanagh at home and Tipp in the All Ire semi.
Never thought Andy Moran was up there with the best forwards in the country but he has has been remarkably consistent in his long career
@Kobe: best forward in the country when he did the knee in 2012. His absence was the difference.
Gallimh abu
The fact is if moran had 1 more forward with him in the drawn final last year mayo would of beaten us … as a dub if cillian o conner spent more time trying to play and score he might of scored a few more b4 the rooster of an equaliser .. is evan regan not worth a place on the mayo team
