FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT from inter-county hurling last November, former Tipperary captain Shane McGrath has decided to further his coaching career.
The 32-year-old is set to take the reins as coach of Kilruane MacDonagh’s. The Ballinahinch man will work under manager Liam O’Shea who previously guided the club to the county semi-finals in 2015.
Having helped coach the Ballinahinch-Temlederry U21B side to a divisional title this year, there will be plenty of interest on the former midfielder’s new appointment and progression with the MacDonagh’s.
After being beaten by top side Killenaule in the 2016 campaign and qualifying for the North Tipperary senior hurling championship final, there is no doubt that McGrath and O’Shea have plenty of talent to work with and can take them a step further next year.
McGrath previously played on 46 occassions in championship hurling for the Premier county.
The 32-year-old primary school teacher won one All-Ireland title, five Munster championships, one National Hurling League and two All-Star awards over the course of his action-packed inter-county hurling career.
