Woods looks 'pretty good' as comeback nears

Former world number one Tiger Woods impressed Olympic champion Justin Rose and their famous playing partners in Monday’s practice round.

JUSTIN ROSE PLAYED a nine-hole practice round with Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter and Tino Martinez on Monday before the start of this week’s Hero World Challenge, and he walked away impressed with the 14-time major winner.

“We’ve played today in a 20-miles-an-hour plus breeze and it’s quite an unforgiving wind,” Rose said, via GolfChannel.com. “But the quality of Tiger’s play has been pretty good.

“If [Tiger] wanted to test his game then these conditions, given as tough as they are, is a good test. He’s clearly driven the ball very, very well.”

Woods will be playing his first competitive rounds of golf since August 2015 this week. He underwent two back surgeries last year, causing many to wonder if the 40-year-old would ever reach the form he once dominated the PGA Tour with.

While that question is yet to be answered, it certainly seems like other pros enjoy having him back on the course.

“We all came in together. We all followed each other, watched each other,” Woods said. “We all were in the prime of our career, doing stuff, winning championships, winning majors. When I was having my run, he [Jeter] was having his run.”

Jeter was happy to get a round in with a golfing legend.

“This is a blast,” Jeter said. “You’re playing with Tiger Woods. Doesn’t get any better than that.”

Hopefully Tiger Woods can get back to near his best, because if he gets back to his best there is no competition. Best in the world on his day.

He is undoubtedly one of the best of all time, but there is no chance he will reign the same ever again, also there wasn’t half the caliber of players there is out there now, he was responsible for the rise of new golfer the game owes him a lot, but he will never dominate again.

Jeter debuted in ’95, Tiger in ’96. Ten years out there lads
