ANOTHER MEMBER OF The Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) Executive Committee has departed with Ciarán Ó Catháin resigning from his position.
Ó Catháin, who is a former president of Athletics Ireland and current president at Athlone Institute of Technology, revealed at last night’s meeting that he is stepping down from his roles as chair of the Crisis Management Committee and OCI director.
It follows on from the departure of John Delaney as vice-president last month, and there are plans to elect a new Executive Committee at an EGM in January.
The OCI also announced on Wednesday night that a probe into the Rio Olympics ticketing scandal has been postponed due to the threat of a High Court injunction from the legal team of former president Pat Hickey, who is facing trial in Brazil.
