THE ANTRIM COUNTY board have recommended that the GAA expel a St Mary’s Rasharkin player, two club members and a member of the team’s coaching staff, following an alleged attack on a referee last month.
The incident is said to have occurred at the end of a match between St Mary’s Rasharkin and Lamh Dhearg in the Antrim U-21 Football Championship.
RTÉ Sport reports that neither the referee nor his linesman, who was also attacked, were seriously harmed as a result of the incident.
All St Mary’s Rasharkin teams above minor level have since been suspended for a year.
Nine of the other team members have also been punished with suspensions of varying length.
The GAA, meanwhile, have yet to comment on this matter.
