BALLYBODEN ST ENDA’S opened the defence of their Dublin senior football title with a win this evening.
But the reigning All-Ireland champions were given a stern test by Naomh Olaf before running out 2-12 to 0-12 winners at O’Toole Park.
Boden burst from the traps with two early goals and led by 2-5 to 0-5 at the break.
Olafs did cut the gap to three as the game entered the final 10 minutes but couldn’t get any closer.
Elsewhere, St Oliver Plunkett’s-Eoghan Rua were stunned by Castleknock who won 2-12 to 1-12 in the first part of a Parnell Park double-header, while St Brigid’s were comfortable 3-15 to 2-5 winners against St Maur’s in the evening’s second game.
2012 county champions Ballymun Kickhams beat O’Tooles by a whopping 36 points, 9-15 to 1-3, while there were also wins for Kilmacud Crokes, Na Fianna, Ballinteer St John’s, Parnells and Clontarf.
