DAVID BECKHAM MADE his Manchester United senior debut in a League Cup game against Brighton in September 1992, months before he had even signed professional terms.
But he was made to wait for his first Premier League appearance.
Having impressed while on loan at Preston during the early part of the 1994/95 season, he returned to Old Trafford and was handed a senior start against Leeds United on the 2nd April.
Without Eric Cantona, United were desperately trying to keep tabs on leaders Blackburn but the loss of the mercurial Frenchman was keenly felt during the title run-in. United drew 0-0 at home to Tottenham and suffered a 2-0 away defeat to Liverpool.
They were subsequently held by Leeds too, and by Chelsea in their next home fixture.
They’d end up losing the championship by a single point on a frantic final day.
