Debut for Tipp goalie and Callanan back as Clare make 3 changes for League quarter final

Rival managers Michael Ryan and Davy Fitzgerald have revealed their starting line-ups for Sunday’s Ennis tussle.

GOALKEEPER DARRAGH MOONEY has been handed a senior debut for the Tipperary hurlers in next Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League quarter-final against Clare in Ennis.

Mooney replaces Portroe’s Darren Gleeson between the sticks for the visit to Cusack Park, while Seamus Callanan returns to the starting line-up for the first time this season after featuring off the bench against Cork last time out.

Dan McCormack comes into the starting line-up at centre forward as manager Michael Ryan makes three changes in personnel in total.

There are two switches up front, as McCormack and Callanan replace Kieran Morris and Adrian Ryan.

Steven O’Brien and Seamus Kennedy, both senior football panellists last year and coveted by Ryan’s big ball counterpart Liam Kearns, both make the matchday 26.

Meanwhile, hosts Clare have made three changes in personnel from the team that secured promotion from Division 1B against Limerick.

2009 All-Ireland U21 winning captain Ciaran O’Doherty replaces Oisin O’Brien while last year’s U21 skipper Conor Cleary is in at centre back for David McInerney, who’s ruled out through injury.

Up front, Darach Honan replaces Shane O’Donnell, who could be out for up to a month with a foot injury.

Throw-in on Sunday between the Munster rivals is at 3.45pm.

All things considered, I think Kerry football is in the healthiest position it has been in years. And with our hurlers in the senior championship next year – Roll on 2016!!

Jack o Connor must go down as one of the best managers the gaa has seen. All Ireland’s at minor, 21 and senior. Still has a big say in future of Kerry football by the sound of things

He has been involved in 21 All Ireland finals, all the above + schools.

He has 18 All Ireland wins – that is just amazing

Kerry have a knack of pulling out a few new stars when it looks like change is needed. adding one or two of those minors and a retirement or two and you’ve a fresh and very talented squad

Lets be honest but for some terrible refreeing decisions last yr Kerry would not have been in the Final last yr.And again this yr in Killarney poor refreeing decisions put them on the good side of the draw avoiding Dublin and Mayo in the process which meant they would have been knocked out of this yrs championship at the quarter or semi final stage. This had nothing to do with Eamon fitzs “genius” as a manager.
