CONNACHT OUT-HALF AJ MacGinty will replace Wasps-bound Danny Cipriani at Sale Sharks next season, it has been confirmed.
The Irish-born player, who is a USA international and featured for the Eagles at the last World Cup, is set to leave the western province ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, having only joined them back in October.
South African Marnitz Boshoff will replace MacGinty at Connacht, after it was confirmed that he would sign for the Irish side from the Lions. 26-year-old MacGinty’s NIQ [non-Irish-qualified] status meant Connacht could not have both players on their books next season.
“We were alerted to AJ during the World Cup and we have been watching his performances at Connacht,” said Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond.
“He is by far the best fly half in the Pro12; great in defence and has an 80% success rate kicking his points.
“I am sure that when he works with Paul Deacon here at Sharks he will become the finished article. He will be great addition to the squad and we are looking forward to AJ joining us pre-season.”
MacGinty stated his excitement to be joining Sale next season, while also thanking Connacht.
“I have really enjoyed my time at Connacht and would like to thank all the coaches, players, fans and staff for their support,” said the former Blackrock College student.
“In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to Pat Lam and I look forward to finishing the season as strong as possible.”

How is what Giggs and Rooney done cheating ?????? . There was nothing wrong with what they did and you can see that clearly …..
I’d love to hear the ref’s conversation with Giggs, someone whos been playing football for the vast majority of his near 40 year existence.
“No Ryan! You have to touch the ball from a corner! You cant dribble it!”
“Ah wha?!”
As a Barça fan I adore Sergio Busquets but he can be embarrassing at times (actually a lot of the time).
Sky Sports describe him as a street fighter type player. Perfect description if they are talking about Sesame Street.
If you’re going to show that Joe Sheridan goal then you should also show Louth’s JP Rooney kicking the ball away from a Meath player who was trying to take a free just a few minutes beforehand, the reason so much injury time was played.
No ‘Hand of God’?
Ricardo Carvalho really should be on d list
